A couture headpiece when the bride works for DIOR in Paris!

All my brides are interesting and stylish women and from every walk of life but when a fashion illustrator from DIOR, Paris wants a bespoke headpiece, you sit up and take notice! I was especially honoured to create something special for Didi.

I knew that she would expect a high standard from me and fortunately, I am a perfectionist, so I was looking forward to the challenge of making her dream come true.

Initially I set about sketching some designs and after Didi decided on ‘the one’, I set about creating it. There were a few glitches and the design didn’t look quite as we had envisaged so Didi and I agreed to try something a little different which was a resounding success!

When I craft a bespoke headpiece I have to be prepared to sometimes change course because as the piece you have drawn comes to life, it may not look quite as you imagined. The relationship I have with all my brides is one of collaboration and so with discussion and my design experience I’m always confident that brides will be delighted with the final piece and so with a few minor tweaks, the design worked beautifully.

The design was 2 matching side headpieces of leaves and buds made with tiny crystals and pearls to sit either side of her veil. They were carefully packaged before they travelled to Italy where Didi was getting married.

Together, we created a headpiece that will be cherished for generations.

It gives me great pleasure to see a bride joyful and confident in her wedding ensemble knowing that I played a small part in its creation.
